This street art mural was a real treat to paint. Created with a mix of aerosol and house paints this textured photorealistic composition explodes across the uneven surface with climbing over air-ducts and avoiding powerlines. I was extremely honoured to paint this piece for Matt, Tim and Gabby at Sons of Mary, it was my first major solo piece in my local suburb of Gardenvale (Brighton). Adding a touch of street flare to their new cafe and bar and bringing the eye to its location nestled off the main drag of Gardenvale’s shopping strip.
At times it was quite tricky working on this surface, literally being swooped by the local fauna who were not happy with my presence. Photorealism especially needs accurate scale and proportion or the work can look like a dogs breakfast. In the end this street art mural became one of my favourite pieces showing just how far my work has come and how confident my work can be even in the most awkward of angles and heights.
