Here are a small collection of illustrations daily as a countdown to our move to London.
London in 9. 8. 7… 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!
2020 has been quite a year with lots of challenges and changes becoming part of our every day globally. From covid to the environment, unemployment to elections, life hasn’t felt “normal” for a while now.
On a more personal level, come 2020 I’d been in Melbourne for over 5 years and had managed to settle into a rhythm when it comes to work-life balance. Even putting a little money aside for a rainy day which is something I’d never imagined I’d be able to do. A perfect time for my wife Denise to get an amazing opportunity in the UK that we couldn’t pass up. Ah, 2020 what a year, am I right?
With London in our future, we started the long process of packing, visa applications, packing, travel exemptions, packing, saying goodbye to friends and family, oh, and packing. With life in boxes and us living on the floor of our apartment that we’d called home since we arrived in 2015, it was a sad, happy, emotional time. In the midst of a second Melbourne lockdown, our time in this wonderful city that we’d called home was coming to an end with what felt like a whimper. Seeing friends for those last hugs and high-fives was impossible so we’d have to settle for zoom chats and streamed waves
To keep my spirits up and to distract from this bookmark in time I produced this little daily countdown over the final 9 days. I’m excited about what London holds for us and I continue to be full of hope for the end of 2020 and the coming 2021. Melbourne I miss you but I will be back soon. London, hello and I hope you are ready for this jelly 🙂
