This cafe mural at Good Brother Espresso in Newcastle’s CBD was produced as part of the This Is Not Art Festival (TiNA) in late 2015. Painting murals for an audience is not usually an element that I have to deal with but this one was a fun challenge, keeping me on my toes and holding my concentration so I could get it all done in a couple of hours. Good Brother has been a go to spot for many many years in Newcastle and is seen as one of the best cafes in the CBD, which is big as Newcastle is know for some of the best coffees in NSW.
I used a mix of shape, calligraphy, typography and some tearing painted textures and splatters in this indoor piece. There were some “hold my breath moments” when it came to adding some of the flares but I’m very happy with final result and fortunately enough so were the spectators. I hope you like the look of this one as much as I enjoyed painting it 🙂
